Run for Heroes Honors Local Heroes! You can help!

Tuesday, May 15, 2018

The Run for Heroes 5K, 10K, and kids run is coming soon. Honor our heroes by coming out for this race.

This from Dan Cartica, co-Race Director about how this race honors our local heroes.

Once again...I would like to thank all of you for supporting/lending a hand to pull this event together.

I have been in contact with all the family members of the first responders/veterans we will be honoring and they are all very appreciative that we are putting on this event to carry out the legacy of their loved one.

The father of Mount Marion volunteer firefighter, Jack Rose, who was 19 when he passed away in the line of duty, has graciously donated his time and gone around to local firehouses passing out Run For Heroes flyers.

Further, I met with the father of Navy Sailor Corey Ingram a couple of weeks ago. Corey, a Poughkeespie native, passed away in the USS John S. McCain incident last summer. His father recently retired after 30+ years of service in the Air Force. His family is beyond appreciative that we are honoring his son and the other individuals.

Lastly, I stopped at Stewart Air National Guard Base about a week ago and spoke to the unit's Commanding Officer and Sergeant Major. They lost 9 Marines in the aviation incident last summer. They are providing us with a Color Guard and Marines to support this event.

Multiple local first responder/veteran non-profits and volunteer organizations will be present as well.
