MHRRC Ed Erichson Memorial Races on March 3

Friday, February 8, 2019

The MHRRC Ed Erichson Memorial Races will be held on Sunday, March 3, at the Lagrange Town Hall on Stringham Road in Lagrangeville.  The races consist of a relatively flat 5-mile loop through scenic back roads, and a 10-mile double loop which throws in a sharp hill for the runner who likes to be challenged.  Race registration opens at 8AM, with the 5-mile race starting at 9AM followed by the 10-mile at 9:15.

A bit of history.  The Ed Erichson Memorial Run was the first ever race organized by the MHRRC in 1978.   Initially called the Inaugural Run (for obvious reasons), the name was changed to honor Ed Erichson who was tragically killed in a car crash on his way to work in the late 80’s, just before his 40th birthday.    Ed was the “go to” guy for every club event... helping in every way from marking courses, manning water stops, ......running the race, then helping with clean up afterwards.  MHRRC presents an award in Ed’s name to a boy and girl runner from Roosevelt High School every year who most exemplify his dedication to the running community.
