MHRRC Drive for Hurricane Relief at Turkey Trot

Lori Decker is heading up a drive to help the victims of Hurricane Sandy. Here is her information:

On  a day of Thanks and Giving, the MHRRC is inviting you to share in helping the families affected by Hurricane Sandy.

At our Annual Turkey Trot on Thursday, November 22, you may bring the items listed below. Please keep in mind that each time a delivery is made, the requests for items changes depending on the need of the neighborhood.Our website will be updated regularly with the supplies most requested.

Lori Decker has arranged for a truck to be donated from 7:30am - 9:30 that morning. We will load the truck up with donations on Thanksgiving and will be delivering the goods over the holiday weekend.

If you can not make it to the race, but would like to still help, items may be dropped off at PULSE Cycling and Fitness, located at the light in Millbrook on the corner of Franklin Ave and Church St  M-Sat 8 am-6:30 pm and Sun 8-6pm.

We are so blessed as a to have so many volunteers ready to help the community when needed. Thank you from our hearts, for your support,  as we help the many families that have lost their homes from this devastating hurricane.

Current list of needs

  • Cleaning supplies (buckets, sponges, masks, rubber gloves, Pine Sol, etc.)
  • Two gallon tank sprayer (for cleaning around walls to help prevent mildew)
  • Heavy duty garbage bags
  • Storage file bins and plastic storage bins
  • Gift cards to Home Depot and Lowes
  • Portable clothing racks
  • Laundry detergent and bleach
  • Photo albums
  • Pantry and staple items
  • Children's books


Update 11/11/2012:

No more clothes are needed at this time.  The Red Cross is no longer taking clothing. The clothing that was donated (especially through Knights of Columbus) was donated to Grace Smith House and Bright Nights for the Homeless. The Knights of Columbus is no longer a drop-off point.
