Tuesday, November 20, 2012

On a day of Thanks and Giving, the MHRRC and PULSE Cycling and Fitness is inviting you to share in helping the families affected by Hurricane Sandy.

Lori Decker has arranged for a truck to be donated from 7:30 AM - 9:30 AM that morning. This is our 3rd trip and we have shortened the list for the items most needed. We will load the truck up with donations on Thanksgiving and Lori and her family will drive to Rockaway, Queens that day.

If you cannot make it to the race, but would like to still help, items may be dropped off at PULSE Cycling and Fitness, located at the light in Millbrook on the corner of Franklin Ave and Church St M-Sat 8am-6:30pm and Sun 8-12pm. We Will be collecting through New Year"s Day!!

We are so blessed to have so many volunteers ready to help the community when needed. Thank you, from our hearts, for your support as we help the many families that have lost their homes from this devastating hurricane. For more information or if you know of specific families in need, you may contact Lori Decker at 845-677-4999.

List of needed items:

  • Socks and underwearh (many cannot still do laundry)
  • Mice traps, bug spray
  • Baby food and diapers
  • Heavy duty garbage bags
  • Storage file bins and plastic storage bins
  • Gift cards to Home Depot and Lowes
  • Gloves, hats, scarves, and warm coats only (please, no clothes or shoes)
  • Portable clothing racks
  • Canned goods
  • Children's books

Here is a personal note from Lori:

This will be our third trip and it looks like the situation is getting worse. Between the weather, bugs and all the dampness, these children's and their families' health is compromised beyond belief. Contributing will help to ensure we get the most important items needed. I am so proud to be part of the MHRRC family and their help on this effort.
