Turkey Trot Was Great Success

Friday, November 23, 2012

The 2012 Turkey Trot was another great day for family racing. The final results were published quickly and are on this web site under Race Results>>2007-Today. Pictures by Nin Lei and by Charlotte and Roger Kopp of runners on the courses are also published in Race Results>>Race Photo Albums.

There were a total of 986 finishers:

  • Kids - 102
  • 2 Mile - 224
  • 5 Mile - 564
  • 25K - 96.

Congratulations to all the finishers who enjoyed a sunny day and comfortable accomodations at Arlington High School. What a great way to start the holiday!

Many thanks to race director Vince Veltre for pulling off a flawless race. Scoring was done quickly and accurately. Registration and packet pick-up was smooth and easy. There was food and fun for all. Thanks, Vince, for all the hours you put in planning this major MHRRC event! Also, thanks to the Veltre children for providing data entry help on race day: Mary, Kathleen, and Brian.

Many volunteers showed up to help and we appreciate all of your contributions. We couldn't put on races without our dedicated core of volunteers, who arrive at AHS before 6:00 am and stay way past noon to make sure our runners have a good experience. If you enjoyed this race, thank a volunteer.

Special thanks to April, the custodian at AHS, who was more accomodating to all our needs than ever expected and who made the AHS lobby a comfortable place to stage all the race activities.

Lori Decker was pleased with all the donations for the Hurricane Sandy victims from our running community. She filled her truck with much needed supplies and was last seen leaving AHS to take the donations to storm victims. Thank you, Lori, for organizing this way to help. Thank you to all the people who donated these much needed supplies. We can be proud of our running community.
