DC Classic Registration and Volunteer Opportunities

Monday, August 22, 2016

We are just 4 weeks away from the 38th Annual Dutchess County Classic which is always a very exciting and successful event for our community. If you aren’t registered yet, now would be an excellent time to do so and save yourself some time and money on race day. Online registration can be completed on the MHRRC website. Don’t forget to select the appropriate race from the drop-down menu: https://www.mhrrc.org/MHRRCshoppingCart/RaceOrder.aspx

With race day fast approaching, we are in need of race day volunteers. Volunteering is fun and doesn’t take much time. For those of us passionate about running, race volunteering is a very rewarding experience that takes very little time. There are volunteer opportunities even for those who are racing. Traffic control is an excellent volunteer opportunity for friends & family of racers to help ensure the safety of our running while still cheering on their loved ones. The best part is that it only takes 30-60 minutes! Please encourage your friends and family who are attending the race to sign-up.

Below is a complete list of volunteer opportunities. Signing up is easy too – just visit http://dcclassic.com/volunteer/ and fill in your information. Our volunteer coordinator will be in touch with you soon. Volunteer opportunities include:

  • Traffic control
  • Course set-up: early morning cone and sign distribution
  • Course take-down: retrieve cones and signs after the event
  • Race packet assembly: Saturday night at 6pm at Arlington High School
  • Race packet distribution: early morning on race day
  • Food tent set-up and replenishment
  • Finish line crew – direct runners, make a runner’s day by handing them their finishers medal!
  • Arlington High School clean-up
  • Helping with tent set-up assembly and break-down

There will be an important DC Classic planning meeting at the Knights of Columbus on Thursday, September 1st. Please grab a friend and come join us. We would love to see some new faces!

We are looking forward to seeing everyone on the 18th for another wonderful event! Thank you for your continuous support of the MHRRC. The Club couldn’t exist without our dedicated volunteers and we really appreciate your contributions.
