Girls Only Day - August 2, 2007
The Marathon Project Girls Only Day, held at the Cornell Cooperative Farm and Home Center on Thursday, August 2nd was a huge success, thanks to a working team effort from all involved.
The days events:
- Marathon Project Assistant Coordinator Sarah Caprioli introduced us to a very fun ice breaker that allowed all of us to learn more about about one another.
- MHRRC member, Lori Decker, led a Pilates Workshop. We are now all able to fly like Superwoman! Lori did an amazing job and we look forward to working with her more in the future.
- The girls had a great opportunity to pick and prepare a portion of their own lunch from the garden located on the grounds. Many mentors contributed to the day by preparing delicious and nutritious recipes that we all got to sample.
- In the afternoon, mentor and Community Educator Renee Pabst shared a workshop with Cornell Cooperative Nancy Cimbrello and Mallory Stanford on Body Image and healthy nutritional choices. This workshop was very informative.
- Cornell Cooperatives Karmen Cockerham spoke to the mentors about the 40 Developmental Assets.
Two of our major event sponsors that we would like to thank are:
- I Run Like a Girl Company and
- CW-X Sport's Bra Company.
Please look for I Run Like a Girl Company at the Dutchess County Classic Race Expo and on Race Day to support them.
