Happy Holidays to All!

Friday, December 20, 2013

MHRRC wishes all of you happy, healthy and good-running, injury-free holidays.

Thank you for all of your support: as runners, as volunteers, and as examples to our community of how great our favorite sport is for everyone.

We are looking forward to a great 2014, with many changes in store.

  • There is a full complement of speakers at our monthly club meetings, thanks to the efforts of Vice President Fred Policastri. Check the web site calendar for speakers; these will also be publicized in the newsletter.
  • AJ Guckian will be leading the 2014 track practices from April through August. AJ also does our  newsletter, so give him a big round of thanks for his efforts.
  • Keith Melara will be directing the Pete Sanfilippo Winter Run at Baird Park, so we hope to see many of you there.
  • With the rail trail completed from Hopewell to the Walkway, we all have a great place to train.
  • Location for the Dutchess County Classic in September is still under discussion. With the construction on Stringham Road and Route 55, we are not sure how we will keep Classic runners safe or even if we will stay at Arlington High School. Information will be posted to this web site as it becomes available.
  • Please use the shopping cart to register for races. Our goal is to make sure everyone who finishes a race is correctly scored and the shopping cart registration makes this process much easier. Note: day of race fees are up to $10 more expensive than the shopping cart pre-registration, so you save some $$$ and some volunteer time when you use the shopping cart.
  • MHRRC is on social media! Thanks to Josh Perks, we now are on Twitter (contact Josh if you want to be a Twitter contributor). Many of you already communicate via Facebook; it is great  to have such a vibrant community. Links to these sites are now on the MHRRC web site navigation bar.

Come to a club meeting or volunteer for a race. MHRRC needs more people to step up and help with club functions so we can serve local runners in the best possible way.

We are grateful for having such an active club, such good friends, and for the joys of running.
